That's no typo, we're calling this a party birthday because this was first and foremost A FVCKING PARTY! Most active ravers at least know of the legendary cruise Holy Ship, but only a select few know of SHIPFAM. This lovable crew of respectable misfits have been attending Holy Ship annually since it's inception and come with lots of advice and colloquial expressions. We first came into contact with members of SHIPFAM while we were covering L4LM’s Brooklyn Spa parties this winter. Luckily, after 3 years of trying, we secured a spot aboard Holy Ship’s upcoming February voyage. Once prebooked, we were given access to their private Facebook group, where we stumbled upon Emily Morin’s original post about her idea to book a ferry boat on Lake Champlain for her birthday party. Taking no more than a few glances at her profile and hilarious Holy Ship photos, almost all of which involved pineapple, we thought “YES! This has to happen!” and immediately pre-paid her for our tickets.
We took so much pleasure in watching this party materialize online through exciting contests for DJ spots, flyers, t-shirts, and a load of other creative ideas. Tastefully hyped, Holy Ferry! was the kind of party 99% of Americans can only watch in a well crafted Seth Rogan film. Emily nailed all the major elements of a killer event; authentic characters from SHIPFAM, Dirtybird records' headlining DJ’s Justin Martin, Kill Frenzy, Option 4, and Mark Starr dropping dope house, all while on a private ferry on Lake Champlain watching the sunset. You don’t take parties like this for granted. We tip our hats to Emily Morin and we look forward to seeing more homegrown parties come from this birthday girl.
